Obituary: Derrell Brown Chambers, 92, of Kannapolis went to be with his Heavenly Father on Friday, March 1, 2019 from CHS-Northeast in Concord unexpectedly. Derrell was born October 28, 1926 in Thomasville, NC a son of the late Herman A. and Annie Rea Crider Chambers. Also preceding him in death was a brother, Ralph "Carlton" Chambers, and two daughters, Cynthia Ann Chambers and Shelia Chambers Jacobs. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Marjorie Richardson Chambers of the home, a son, David Chambers and wife Cindy of Landis, four granddaughters; Kristie Ingle and husband Kevin, Kammie Dill and husband Bryan, Ashley Love and husband James, Krystle Morehead and husband Jonathan. Also surviving are six great-grandchildren; Abby, Evan, Ava, Lily, Ella, and Cooper. Derrell was a veteran of the US Army serving as an MP in postwar Europe. He returned home and worked many years for Cannon Mills, Plt. #1 newer distribution center until he retired. He was an active member of Centerview Baptist Church and was still serving as a deacon.He enjoyed fishing and ice cream. Derrell loved the Lord, his wife of 70 years; Marjorie, and his family. He will be deeply missed. Funeral services will be 3:00 P.M. Monday, March 4, 2019 at Centerview Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Willie Rash. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Sunday, March 3, 2019 from 6:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. at Whitley's Funeral Home.
