Dessie Braswell Strawn

Obituary: Dessie Braswell Strawn, age 96, died Saturday, February 5, 2011 at the Lutheran Home at Trinity Oaks, Salisbury, NC. She was born October 27, 1914 in Union County, NC, the daughter of the late Wilson Braswell and Nannie Braswell. She was employed with the former Cannon Mills Co. Pl.t#1 Sheet Dept. until her retirement in 1979.She was a long-time member of Calvary Baptist Church, Kannapolis, NC.Dessie had lived in the area since 1937. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, B.D. Strawn; a son, Charles W. Strawn. The funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Max Smith. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC.The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home prior to the service.The family will be at the home of Billy & Phyllis Strawn the remainder of the time. Survivors include two sons, Billy Strawn & wife, Phyllis of Kannapolis, NC and Mike Strawn & wife, Pat of Knightdale, NC; a daughter-in-law, Patricia of Columbia, SC; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
