Dewey Micheal Bowlin

Dewey Micheal Bowlin, beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away April 18th, 2023 at the age of 72, in Mt Pleasant, NC. Born October 12, 1950, Dewey was a graduate of South Rowan High School, class of 1968.
Dewey was a Viet Nam veteran, serving in the US Army from 1968 to 1972. After his military service, he married Marcia and began a family. Dewey then pursued his passion for cars by furthering his education and community involvement. After becoming a graduate of Rowan Technical College's automotive program and obtaining ASE Master Automotive Mechanic status he worked as an Automotive Technician. Later, he served on the advisory board at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College Industrial and Engineering Technologies for its automotive programs.
Along with his wife, Marcia, and his sons, Micheal and Eric, his automotive passions allowed the family to be competitive in their racing ambitions, Dewey was twice awarded NASCAR Mechanic of the Year at Caraway Speedway, in 2004 and 2006. Dewey had an entrepreneurial spirit, beginning Taylor-Bowlin Tire, Inc with a partner in 1993. He was a NC Lifetime Sportsman. He enjoyed fishing and competing in tournaments, often taking one of his sons or wife as partners during competitions. He was a member of West A Tabernacle Baptist Church in Kannapolis, NC.
Dewey is survived by his loving wife, Marcia D Bowlin, son Micheal B Bowlin, brother A Timothy Bowlin, and sisters Donna Bunton and Geraldine Dotson. He was predeceased by his son Eric C Bowlin and his parents, Donald and Lelia Bowlin. Dewey also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rodney Efird officiating, burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park with Military Honors.
Visitation will be prior from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at Whitley's Funeral Home.
