Diane Genevieve Wrobleski, 83, of Concord, NC and formerly of Hamburg, MI, passed away on Monday, December 25, 2023.
Diane Genevieve Wrobleski, daughter of Archie D Stuhlfaut and Elissa M Brault, was a descendant of many of the voyageurs who came by canoe to Fort Pontchartrain and Michilimackinac in the 17th & 18th centuries. Diane was a resident of Hamburg since 1973 when she moved here with her Husband and three children from Detroit. She was born in Detroit on April 26, 1940. Diane attended the Ursuline academy in Chatham, Ontario and Cass Technical High School in Detroit where she met her husband Jim Wrobleski. They married in Detroit at St Francis de Sales church on September 3, 1960. Diane graduated from Eastern Michigan University and was a member of the Phi Alpha Theta Honors Society. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Diane was very civic minded, having belonged to the Hamburg Village League, Hamburg Kiwanis and served on the Hamburg Library Board for ten years. She was Hamburg Township Clerk from 1992 – 1996. Diane retired from the EPA in 2005.
She had many interests including genealogy. She was a member of the MI Genealogical Society and the French Canadian Heritage Society of MI. Other interests of hers were reading, crocheting, portraitures, scrap booking and writing which she had her first book published in 2017.
Diane spent the winters at Tellico village outside of Knoxville, TN to be near her sons and grandchildren and returned to Brighton in the summers to be near her grandsons. Diane will be missed by her loving family. Her devoted sons; Steven James (Tammy Bednarik) Wrobleski of Charlotte, NC. David Michael (Lisa Hamilton) Wrobleski and daughters Courtney Pethers and Carly Diane Wrobleski of Lenoir City, TN. She was preceded in death by her daughter Julie Marie (Mrs. Matthew) Petrill in Sept. 2000, and her husband James Frank in Sept. 2006. She leaves a son-in-law, Matthew Petrill and two grandsons, Seth Matthew Petrill and Nathan James Petrill of Howell, MI. Besides her immediate family she also leaves two loving sisters, Marguerite Kirby of Livonia and Joan Serra of Redford. Cousins Andre’ and Josianne Lafrance, several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews survive.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Michael J. Fox Parkinson Foundation.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 5, 2024 at Borek Jennings Funeral Home – Hamburg Chapel, 7425 East M-36, Hamburg, MI 48139. The funeral service will follow and begin at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will immediately follow the service at the family plot at Lakeview Cemetery in Howell, MI.
