Dixie Owens

Obituary: Dixie Owens, 77, passed away Friday morning, January 5, 2018 at Five Oaks Manor. Born September 23, 1940 in Buffalo, Kansas, she was a daughter of the late Willis Eadley Jones and Anna Mae Williams Jones. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Dean Owens on February 5, 2007, and two brothers, Darrell and Jimmy Jones. A devoted and loving mother and grandmother, she enjoyed spending time with her much cherished family. She had a wonderful sense of humor, was the family rock, always showing concern for other's well being. She loved and was loved by the nursing home staff and all who met her. Much loved family members include her children, Doug Owens, Cindy Thompson (Kevin) and Pam Owens; her brothers, Larry and Jerry Jones; her sister, Peggy Schiefelbine; her grandchildren, Brandi (Todd), Ashley, Tiffany, Nicholas (Kayla), Rachel, Brandon (Angela), Lacy, Zachery (Ariel), Shea (Tyler) and Brandon; 17 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and her loyal companions Murphy, Kelsey, Rocky, Whiskers, Sunshine, Leonardo and Wilson. A memorial service to remember and celebrate the life of Mrs. Owens will be held at 4:00 pm Tuesday, January 9th at Whitley's Funeral Home. Burial will take place at 2:00 pm Thursday, January 11th, at the Salisbury National Cemetery.
