Dolphas Earl (Sr) Ramseur

Dolphas “Babe” Earl Ramseur, Sr., 80, passed away October 21, 2023, at Sherrills Ford Hospice House, Sherrills Ford, North Carolina.

He was born March 15, 1943, in Broad Creek, North Carlina, to the late George Edgar Ramseur and Blanche Pless Ramseur. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Flav, Don, and Glenn Ramseur.

Babe was a beloved husband, father and grandfather whose family meant the world to him.  A 1961 graduate of Winecoff High School, he went on to have a successful career at United Parcel Service, where he dedicated 30 years of his life. He was known for his strong work ethic and commitment to his job. In his free time, Babe enjoyed playing high school and American Legion baseball.  He was an avid sports fan and supported the New York Yankees, Duke basketball and Raiders football. He enjoyed reminiscing with special friends of the good old days of playing ball, fishing and traveling.  Babe’s true joy in life came from spending time with his four much loved grandchildren, Dolan Ramseur, Evan Ramseur, and Spencer and Hollyn Ball. They were truly the highlight of his life.  Babe was a member of McGill Baptist Church in Concord, NC, where he found great comfort and strength.

Loving family members include his devoted wife of 59 years, Linda Query Ramseur; his daughter, Tracy Ball (Jason) of Davidson, NC; his son, Dolph Ramseur, also of Davidson, NC; his four grandchildren; and numerous special nieces and nephews.

Babe will be remembered for his dedication, love for his family and his passion for sports. Although in a much better place today, he will be deeply missed by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A memorial service to honor his life and legacy will begin at 12:00 pm Wednesday, October 25th at McGill Baptist Church, conducted by Dr. Steve Ayers. The family will receive friends from 11:00-12:00 prior to the service at the church.
