Donald Ray Knight

Donald Ray “Don” Knight, 69, of Kannapolis, passed away Tuesday afternoon, June 28, 2022, at Brian Center in Concord, following a period of declining health.

Born May 2,1953, in Iredell County, he was a son of the late James Wesley and Virginia Lee Graves Knight.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Rick Knight and a son-in-law, Danny Wetter.

Mr. Knight had retired after more than 45 years of service as truck driver. He had worked for various companies, most recently with Averitt Trucking Company. A loyal NASCAR supporter, Don was an avid Dale Earnhardt, Jr. fan.   He enjoyed being in his home, watching TV, and loved his cat, Oreo.  A loving and devoted father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather, he will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew and loved him.

Loving family members include his daughters, Kathy Odom (Richard) and Kelly Wetter; sister, Linda McCants; brother, Michael Knight; his 6 grandchildren, Kimberly Hall (Wayne), Stephanie Sincoular (Nathan), Allen Odom (Jessica), Kyle Wetter (Marc), Robert Odom (Katie) and James Odom (Jessica); 7 great grandchildren and 2 soon to be; nieces, nephews and extended family members.

The family will receive friends Saturday, July 2nd from 11:00-12:00 pm at Whitley’s Funeral Home.  Funeral services to remember and celebrate the life of Don will begin at 12:00 noon in the funeral home chapel, conducted by Timothy Walters, pastor.  Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Gardens in China Grove.
