Obituary: Donald Lynn Hogue, 77, of Kannapolis, NC went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at CMC- Northeast in Concord after years of declining health and critically ill for the past several weeks. Don was born on September 30, 1934 in Clover, SC, the son of the late Thomas Jackson Hogue and the late Mary Louada Seagle Hogue. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a granddaughter, Rebekah Jamison Spivey. Don was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a faithful member of Shadybrook Baptist Church where he served a deacon, Sunday School director, treasurer and on numerous committees. He was a member of the first graduating class of A.L. Brown in 1952. He attended Catawba College, UNC Charlotte, and graduated from Evans Business College. Don worked for Cannon Mills Company as an accountant in accounts payable and was assistant treasurer of Cannon Mills Inc. Later he worked for Whitley's funeral home as their business manager until retirement. He was president of the A.L. Brown Band Aide Club, a member of the K-town Vagabond Travel Club and Kannapolis Flutter Wheels Square Dance Club. He was a trustee at CMC-Northeast in Concord, and a member of the Gideons International Kannapolis Camp. Don is survived by his wife, Patricia Hogue of the home; two daughters, Surada Watkins and husband Rev. Mike Watkins of Mullins, SC and Susan Spivey of Raleigh; 3 granddaughters, Lindsay Hance, Lauren Landis, and Sarah Spivey; and great grandchildren, Makayla and Grayson Hance. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, May 26th at Shadybrook Baptist Church in Kannapolis, NC conducted by Rev. Don Davis, Rev. Mike Watkins, and Rev. Rickey Oxford. Burial will take place at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis with military rites conducted by Cabarrus County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at Whitley's Funeral Home on Friday, May 25th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. At other times they will be at the residence.
