Donald Aaron Miller, 76, of Concord, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, May 27, 2021 surrounded by his loving family.
Donald was born on January 16, 1945 in Ashe County to the late Paul Albert Miller and Dollie Sheets Miller. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Louise Hamby and brother Jimmy Miller.
Donald loved the outside, whether it was mowing the yard or working in his gardens. He would always make sure that he grew enough to give to friends, neighbors and widows in the neighborhood. He even took trunk loads of watermelons to church to give away. He loved doing woodwork making many clocks to give away. He also enjoyed his miniature donkeys, making pets of each. He loved his family, his church and his Lord. He never worried about dying because he knew where he was going.
Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife of 54 years, Barbara Jean Melton Miller, daughter, Tracey (Robert) Johnson of Salisbury; sons, Christopher Miller (Dee) of Leola, PA, and Jason Miller of Oakboro, NC; grandchildren, Christopher Johnson, Tyler Lefler, Megan Miller, Dillon Johnson (Rachel), Christin Langan (Will); great-grandchild, Henleigh Pittman; sisters, Lois Ann Miller (Roger) of Millers Creek, NC; Kathy Barnes (Gary) of Glendale Springs; brother in-law, Wade Melton (Marie) of Cleveland, TN, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Monday, May 31, 2021 at Whitley’s Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 11:30 a.m. in the chapel of Whitley’s Funeral Home with Rev. James Smith and Rev. Michael Waters officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service at Carolina Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081 or to Parkwood Baptist Church, 1069 Central Dr., Concord, NC 28027.
