Donald Pennell

Obituary: Donald Wilson Pennell, 84, passed away Sunday morning, April 8, 2018, at CHS-Northeast Medical Center. Born May 3, 1933 in Alamance County, Donald was the son of the late George Wright Pennell and Flonnie Wilson Pennell. A graduate of Winecoff school, he had attended Wake Forest University, and had honorably served his country with the US Army. Mr. Pennell retired from Pillowtex, as an electrician, after 25 years of faithful service. He was a member of Brookdale Baptist Church and enjoyed wildflower photography. Loving family members include his wife of 57 years, Sadie Sutton Pennell; his son Kevin Pennell and wife, Laura of Midland; his grandchildren, Holly, Emily and Matthew Pennell, and a number of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 pm Friday, April 13, 2018, at Whitley's Funeral Home. Funeral services to remember and celebrate the life of Mr. Pennell will begin at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel, conducted by Rev. Mark Clontz.
