Donald “Don” Mack Bowles, 92, of Kannapolis, passed away early Wednesday morning, November 16, 2022 in his home after dealing with multiple ongoing health complications.
Born in Cabarrus County on May 16, 1930, he was the son of the late Lawrence Bowles and the late Trixie Campbell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sandra “Joyce” Eddleman Bowles. He had many siblings, known as Frank, Betty, Mildred, Alberta, James, Ray and Lillian Bowles.
Mr. Bowles and his late wife Joyce Bowles were dedicated members of Center Grove Lutheran Church in Kannapolis. He was a caretaker of the church and was faithfully dedicated to the upkeep of the building and grounds. He also did a lot of work in the archives and history room.
Mr. Bowles worked in Cannon Mills for most of his life and later follow his and his wife’s passion of traveling the East Coast to share their talent with others at craft shows. He was a skilled craftsman and woodworker and Joyce was the talented painter. He especially loved his pecans. After all of the traveling came to an end, he spent most of his days tending to his yards around Kannapolis that he mowed.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Donna Bowles Wigger of Charlotte, Sherry Bowles Smith and husband, Bill, of Cornelius, and Tonya Bowles Hess of Kannapolis; grandchildren, Nathan Tuck, Joy Dry, Angela Tow, Wes Mott, Tristen and Tiffany Hess; great-grandchildren, Madeline and Alana Burch, Emily Dry, Sandra and Alex Tuck, Jake Mott, Braylen Hess and Miyah Goodjohn, and Karsynn Alexander.
He was the most loyal hardworking man, and he will be very missed by his family and those who were close to him.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at Center Grove Lutheran Church. The funeral service will follow and begin at 3:00 p.m. at Center Grove Lutheran Church with Pastor Christopher Stout officiating. Burial will immediately follow at the church cemetery.
