Donna Sue Karriker Treece of Concord, NC, passed from earth to her Heavenly home on Sunday, November 20, 2022. She was 67 years old. The family is comforted because Donna placed her faith and trust in Jesus Christ as her personal Savior when she was a young person. Her family and friends should be comforted to know that Jesus the Great Comforter taught us in Matthew 5 that, “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.” Donna has met her Creator, and her body that was plagued by disease, pain, and suffering for many years has been made whole. Thank you, Jesus, for the eternal hope that you give to those left on earth.
Donna was born in Concord, NC, in 1955, and grew up in China Grove, NC. She was predeceased by her parents William Clifford Karriker and Mildred Mull Karriker, and her grandson Grayson Michael Kushinsky.
Donna graduated from South Rowan High School in 1973, and in 1977 married her husband Charles “Tony” Treece. She worked in her family’s financial services business as an office administrator from 1984 until she became too sick to work. Later in life Donna graduated with honors from ECPI University with an Associate’s Degree. She led a quiet life that complemented her husband, and worked diligently to ensure her family was always cared for. She was a selfless and loyal person. Donna was a voracious reader, and she spent much of her spare time consumed in good books.
Donna dearly loved her family and nothing made her happier than getting to spend time with her grandchildren. Her grandchildren were Chandler, Alyssa, and Landon Kushinsky and Amelia and Ansley Treece. She had two children, Amber (Tim) Kushinsky of Concord, and David (Mallory) Treece of Spartanburg, SC. Donna also leaves behind her two sisters, Barbara Webb of China Grove, NC, and Betty Baucom of Laurinburg, NC.
Donna, and her husband Tony, gave generously to David Wood Ministries, which teaches foreign churches and ministries to evangelize the good news of Jesus Christ’s redeeming power. Donna grew up attending Central Baptist Church in Kannapolis, and she was married in the church.
A celebration of her life will be held at Central Baptist Church on Sunday, November 27, 2022. A reception of friends will be held at 1:00 at Central followed by the funeral service. The service will be conducted by Pastor Barry Murray, followed by a graveside service at Carolina Memorial Gardens. Whitley’s Funeral Home is serving the family.
