Doris Hileman Ballard

Obituary: Kannapolis, NC- Doris Elaine Hileman Ballard, age 76, died Monday, April 4, 2011 at CMC-NorthEast, Concord, NC after three months of declining health. She was born April 8, 1934 in Cabarrus County, NC, the daughter of the late Helen Chambers Peck. Doris was a homemaker and a retired sales clerk for Belk's Department Store, Carolina Mall, Concord, NC where she had worked for many years. Her family fondly remembers her love for cooking as a special part of her life. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her 1st husband, Frank Harley Bowles; 2nd husband, Bill Ballard; five brothers, Gene, Harry, Bob, Bill, and Jack Hileman; and a son-in-law, Jimmy Sides. The funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Barbara Watkins. Burial will follow at Center Grove Lutheran Church Cemetery, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home prior to the service. Survivors include her two daughters, Ann Christy of Kannapolis, NC and Terri Sides of Lake Norman, NC; two sons, Chris Bowles & wife, Melanie of Salisbury, NC, and Tim Bowles & wife, Crystal of Rockwell, NC; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; a step-son, Larry Ballard & wife, Marsha of Harrisburg, NC; a sister-in-law, Catherine Hileman Chambers of Kannapolis, NC; and her special friend, Marlene Horton of Kannapolis, NC.
