Obituary: Doris Jean "Granny" Hagler Bost, age 83 of the Enochville Community went to be with her Heavenly Father on Saturday, February 13, 2010 after a courageous battle with Cancer. Her funeral will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, February 16 at the Gospel Lighthouse Church in China Grove with Rev. Joel Ervin and Rev. Roger Bostic officiating. She will lie in state at the church ½ hour prior to the funeral and burial will follow the funeral at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove. The family will receive friends from 6:00 -8:30 PM Monday, February 15 at Whitley's Funeral Home Annex Chapel, at other times the family will be at her residence. Doris was born December 8, 1926 in Charlotte, NC the daughter of the late William S. and Tillie Mae Hagler. She was a life long area resident, educated in Mecklenburg Co. Schools. Doris retired from Landis Elementary School in 1995 after 25 years of service to the Rowan Co. Schools working in the Cafeteria. She was a very active member of Gospel Lighthouse Church serving as Church secretary and on the Ladies Auxiliary and the Quilting Committee. "Granny", as she was affectionately called by her family, loved to quilt, visit with family and friends, work in her yard and take trips to the Beach. "Granny" will always be remembered by her family as being a servant of the Lord by serving others. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Joe Bost, Sr. and also 4 brothers and sisters. Survivors include son, Kenneth Hagler and wife, Judy of Wilmington; daughter, Hazel Bostic and husband, Rev. Roger Bostic of Landis; daughters, Becky James and husband Rick and Eva Kyle and husband, Al both of China Grove; daughter, Clara Watt and husband, Mike and Son, Joe Bost, Jr. and wife, Barbara both of Kannapolis. She is also survived by her sister, Lucille Davis of Charlotte and 13 grandchildren and13 great-grandchildren. Whitley's Funeral Home is serving the Bost family.
