Obituary: Kannapolis Doris Ann Dancy Christy, age 63 of Kannapolis died Wednesday July 29, 2009 at Bob and Carolyn Tucker Hospice House after a period of declining health. A Memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, August 1st at Bethpage Presbyterian Church in Kannapolis with Rev. Darryl Baker officiating. Burial of cremains will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:45 PM prior to the service; at other times the will be at 2617 Watts Ave in Concord, the home of Buddy and Nevina Christy. Doris was born May 15, 1946 in Rowan co., the daughter of the late William Rell Dancy and the late Beulah Olene Sloop Dancy. She was a life long area resident, educated in Rowan Co. Schools and graduated from South Rowan High School. Doris was a member of Bethpage Presbyterian Church. She worked for many years in the Cafeteria at Northwest Cabarrus Middle School in many capacities. She retired in 2001. Doris was preceded in death by her daughter, Janice "Diane" Christy. She is survived by her husband, Paul Eugene Christy of the home, her son Buddy Christy and wife, Nevina of Concord, her daughter Sherry Loyd and husband, wil of Kernersville, 5 grandchildren, Amelia, Aleigha, Ashlyn, Andrew and Kaitlyn. She is also survived by her brother Bill Dancy and wife Anne of Mannassas, VA and her Great-Aunt Elizabeth "Pete" Sloop of Kannapolis. Online condolences may be left at information.whitleysfh.com.
