Doris Harrington Fowler

Obituary: Kannapolis, NC- Doris Harrington Fowler, age 81, died Saturday, April 28, 2012 at her home after a short period of declining health. She was born July 12, 1930 in Cabarrus County, N.C., the daughter of the late R.W. Harrington and Geneva Brookshire Harrington. She was a 1949 graduate of J.W. Cannon High School, Kannapolis, and later in life a degree in I.T./data processing at Guilford Technical Institute in 1972. In earlier years Doris worked for the former Johnson Furniture Company, Kannapolis, for 8 years. She then went to work for Cannon Mills Company, Main Office until 1969. That is when she became a stay-at-home mom. That same year she and her family moved to Jamestown, NC. The family moved back to Kannapolis in 1977. Doris was an active member of North Kannapolis Baptist Church, Kannapolis, until her health became a consideration. She will be fondly remembered as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. He grandchildren were the pride and joy of the life. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by a sister, Hazel Harrington. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at Carolina Memorial Park Chapel Mausoleum, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Coy Privette. There will be no visitation. Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Joseph Jacob Fowler; a son, Randall Fowler of Kannapolis, NC; a daughter, Donna Fowler Walton & husband, Rick of High Point, NC; and three grandchildren, Katharine Grace Fowler of Charlotte, NC, Kristopher Jacob Walton and Melissa Brooke Walton, both of High Point, NC.
