Doris Galyan

Obituary: Doris Jean Galyan, 79, of Concord, passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 18, 2017 surrounded by family after an extended illness. Doris was born January 15, 1938 to Plummer Warren Graham and Susie Spradley Graham in Unadilla, Georgia. She had worked at Bangle Brothers but spent the last two decades as a homemaker and drew her greatest joy as wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was pre deceased by her parents, her husband of 44 years James Richard Galyan who died in 2010; and her brothers Warren Graham JR; James "Harris" Graham; and William "Bill" Graham. Those left to cherish her memory are son, Jeff Galyan and wife Beth of Concord; son, Keith Galyan and wife Donna; son, Kevin Galyan; son, Scott Galyan all of Kannapolis. Sister, Lois Graham Overcash of Kannapolis; sister, Ruth Graham Lipster of Rock Hill, SC; and a host of grandchildren (13) great-grandchildren (9). The family would like to give special thanks to all the Nurses and Aids from Rowan Hospice that assisted in her care and keeping her comfortable in her final days, we extend that gratitude toward Ann Hagler, her grandson Zachary Galyan and granddaughter Allison Barnhardt for all their help as well, may God bless them all. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. Don Lisk. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior from 11:00 to 12:00. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Rowan County, 720 Grove Street, Salisbury, NC 28144.
