Obituary: Doris Louise Johnson Kirkley, age 89, of China Grove went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at her residence following a period of declining health. Doris was born December 20, 1928 in Chesterfield County, SC, a daughter of the late Vernon Lee Johnson, Sr. and Grace Gibson Johnson. Doris was a member of Blackwelder Park Baptist Church. She loved her family and will be dearly missed. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Newell Edward Kirkley on April 5, 2016, a brother; Vernon Lee Johnson, Jr., and grandson Matthew Rudd Farrington. Family members left to cherish her memory are two sons, Edward Lee "Sam" Kirkley (Sandye) of China Grove and Nathan James Kirkley (Patty) of Rutledge, Tenn., one daughter, Cathy Kirkley Farrington (Michael) of China Grove and her "adopted" son Marshall Eubanks (Violet) of Kannapolis. She is also survived by two brothers; John L. Johnson (Betty) and Jerry M. Johnson (B.J.) along with one sister, Sue Gentry (Phil). Also surviving is a sister-in-law, Carol Johnson. Also surviving are nine grandchildren; Angela Kincaid, Meredith Jones, Lori Blackledge, Jennifer Farrington, Kelly Moore, Tanya Mata, Marsha, Mark and Marty Eubanks. She has 11 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 1:30 P.M. Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at Blackwelder Park Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Roger Head. Interment will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park, China Grove. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:00 Noon until 1:30 P.M. prior to the service.
