Doris Evelyn Lunsford

Obituary: Doris Evelyn Lunsford, age 78, passed away on Sunday, April 20, 2014 at Tucker Hospice House, Kannapolis, NC after a short illness. Doris was born December 13, 1935 in Cabarrus County, NC, the daughter of the late Julian Thomas Lunsford and Etta Lee Bond Lunsford. She was a 1953 graduate of A.L. Brown High School. She was employed twenty-five years with Belk Store Services and Credit Dept, Charlotte, NC until her retirement. Doris enjoyed taking trips to the beach and the mountains with her family and friends. Her hobbies included tole painting, reframing old pictures, and crafting with eggs. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by a niece, Cathy Dillard Niebur. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, April 24, 2014 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Tim McQueen. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home prior to the service. Survivors include a sister, Morene L. Dillard of Charlotte, NC; a niece, Jeanne D. Tatum & husband, Robby of Kannapolis, NC; a great-nephew, Matthew Tatum & wife, Glynus of Lexington, NC; and two great-great-nephews, Christopher and Bryce Tatum, both of Lexington, NC.
