Doris Ellen (Williams) Mills

Doris Ellen Williams Mills, 88, of Kannapolis passed away on Wednesday May 29, 2024 at Atrium Health Cabarrus.

Doris was born on April 7, 1936 in Union County, North Carolina to the late Ellis Edwin Williams and the late Ellie Cleo Smith Williams. Doris had a strong faith and loved the Lord.  She was a member of Lakewood Baptist Church in Kannapolis.  She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She was also known for her wonderful cooking and her gardening skills.  She was always concerned for others more than herself.  She will surely be missed by all.

In addition to her parents Doris was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years Arnold Mills whom she married on May 27, 1952, her daughter; Janet Watkins, brother; Roger Williams and her sister; Linda Booth.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son; Jerry Mills and his wife Patti, daughter; Donna Irvin and husband William, Jr., grandchildren; Jamie Rollins and wife Jennifer, Jerry Mills, Jr. and wife Brooke, Staci Mills, William Irvin, III and wife Candice and Bridgett Short and husband Michael, great-grandchildren; Jalee Rollins, Jessalyn Rollins, Jamilyn Rollins, Skylar Mills, Parker Mills, Zac Grindstaff, Graci Grindstaff, Carter Grindstaff, William Irvin, IV, Zakk Irvin, and Tegan Short, brother; Harold Williams and wife Ann and sister; Judy Love.

The family will receive friends on Monday June 3, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Whitley’s Funeral Home 1748 Dale Earnhardt Blvd.  Kannapolis, NC  28083 with the funeral service beginning at 11:00 Am in the funeral home chapel.  Rev. Steve Leigh will be officiating the service with burial following at Carolina Memorial Park, 601 Mt Olivet Road, Concord, NC  28025.  Pallbearers will be Jamie Rollins, Jerry Mills, Jr., Parker Mills, Jarrid Nelson, Kent Shirley and Phil Rollins.
