Obituary: Kannapolis- Doris "Cleo" Slawson Overcash, 98, passed away Tuesday morning, November 20, 2018, at her home. Born July 17, 1920 in Winston County, MS, Cleo was the daughter of the late Andrew Otto Slawson and Lyda Fox Slawson. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Lester D. Overcash, her son, David Overcash, and 4 brothers. Mrs. Overcash retired from Cannon Mills after more than 38 years of loyal service. A longtime member of New Hope Lutheran Church, she had been active with WELCA, was a Sunday school teacher, choir member, and was a member of the Good Timers group. A loving mother, grandmother and sister, Mrs. Overcash will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Family members with cherished memories include her daughter, Beverly Crosby; daughter-in-law; Gail Overcash; special, much loved niece Joanne Harlow (Sid); her brother, Ralph Slawson; 3 granddaughters; 11 great-grandchildren and extended family members. The family will receive friends from 11:30-1:00 pm Monday, November 26th at New Hope Lutheran Church. Funeral services to remember and celebrate the life of Mrs. Overcash will begin at 1:00 pm in the church. Mrs. Overcash will be laid to rest with her husband at Carolina Memorial Park.
