Doris (Dot) (Karriker) Crowe

December 16, 1929 — September 13, 2020

Kannapolis

Doris (Dot) Louise Karriker Crowe, 90, of Kannapolis passed away gently this morning, September 13, 2020 at the Brian Center. The daughter of Florence and Walter Linn Karriker, Dot was born in Kannapolis on December 16, 1929. She lived at the home place for 82 years. First, with her parents and then raising her own family there.

Preceded in death by her husband, Leo and son, Elton, the couple proudly brought up their beloved children, Rhonda (Michael), Elton, Sheila (Scott), and Relena (Broderick). Special recognition to Pam, Nancy, Phil, Brenda and Reina for their selfless support and love for Gdot.

Dot worked for 50 years in the pillowcase department of Cannon Mills and was a member of Blackwelder Park Baptist Church.
Anyone who knew Dot Crowe became keenly aware of her sharp wit and genuine excitement about the wonders of family and life in general. She would often point out how beautiful a color of something was in nature and loved to sit on her porch and commune with her squirrel and bird friends. Dot always looked forward to a red bird (Cardinal) visit. She believed it was a visit from a lost loved one.

The neighborhood children took great delight in visiting Dot. Many times they would need to wake her from a nap in her swing.

Known as Gdot, Gramma, Granny Dot and several other monikers, Doris leaves us with the impressive legacy of 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Each one cherished by Dot with her whole heart.

The family cannot convey the fullness of their hearts or the gratitude for the kind words and sentiments of friends that remind us that Dot will not be forgotten.

Out of respect for the ongoing covid situation, her family will have a private graveside service at Carolina Memorial Park.

Memorials may be made to Blackwelder Park Baptist Church, 2204 Summit Ave, Kannapolis, NC 28081.

Online condolences may be left at www.whitleysfuneralhome.com.
