Obituary: Dorothea Iris "Dot" Overcash, 93, of Kannapolis died Monday, Dec. 18, 2017 at Best of Care Assisted Living after a period of declining health. Her funeral will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, Dec. 20 at St. John's Reformed Church with Dr. Chris King officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. Her family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 to 2:00 PM on Wednesday prior to the funeral. Dot was born Nov. 17, 1924 in Kannapolis, a daughter of the late Adam and Ruby Tuck Woodward. In addition to her parents, Dot was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Lloyd Overcash, Sr. and 2 sisters; Audrey Collins and Ariel Furr. Dot was a lifelong area resident and member of St. John's Reformed Church. She loved her church and was active with the hotdog sales and was a member of the Jennie Peeler Circle. Dot was a loving mother and grandmother, so proud of her great-grandson. At one time Dot worked for Cannon Mills in the Wash Cloth Dept. and then for Concord Telephone Co. as an operator until retiring. She enjoyed her retirement and being with family and friends. She is survived by her son, Harold L. "Chuck" Overcash, Jr. (Joanne) of Kannapolis, her grandchildren; Dana Overcash (Elizabeth) of Kannapolis and Meagan Poole (David) of China Grove and 1 great-grandson, Landon Poole. Dot is also survived by 2 sisters; Claudia Daves of Salisbury and Esther Ingram of China Grove as well as many nieces and nephews.
