Dorothy Elnora (Lowe) Barnette

Dorothy “Dotty” Elnora Lowe Barnette, 89, of Kannapolis, went into her heavenly home on December 25, 2020.

Dorothy was born on July 9,1931 in Lincoln County to the late Roy James Lowe and Bertha Robinson Lowe. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Herman Mancel Barnette in 2014, and two sisters, Hazel Thacker and Brenda Johnson.

Mrs. Barnette was a well known resident of the Brushy Mountain community in Wilkes County. Dorothy retired after 45 years as a hemming instructor at Cannon Mills. Dorothy was a faithful member of Genesis Baptist Church. She was a talented seamstress and loved making various gifts for others. She also enjoyed gardening flowers and cooking.

Those left to cherish her memory include two sons, Ronald (Diane) Barnette and Jimmy Barnette; grandchildren, Jennifer (Darrin) Overcash, Brent (Lisa) Barnette, and Leah Barnette; great-grandchildren, Logan Overcash, Josh Barnette; and five sisters, Mary Lou Towery, Margaret Gaither, Betty Jo White, Barbara Eldreth and Tilda Mahaffey.

A visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 28, 2020 at Whitley’s Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. in Whitley’s Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gene Edwards and Rev. Neil Crowell officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service at Carolina Memorial Park.
