Dorothy Steele Brock

Obituary: Dorothy "Dot" Steele Brock, age 93, left this earthly home for her heavenly home on Tuesday evening, December 25, 2012. Her family had spent the day celebrating Christmas with her. She was a loving Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, and Great-Great-Grandmother. She was thought of as a hard-worker and went back to school in her seventies to get her CNA where she later served as a caregiver for many years. Dorothy was born in Alexander County, NC, the daughter of the late Robert Steele and Pearl Payne Steele. She was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church, Kannapolis, NC where she participated for many years in her Sunday School class. She is preceded in death by her husband, J. Odell Brock in 1968; her sisters, Blanche Dorton, Willie Mae Kiser; her brother, M.C. Steele; and a son-in-law, Eddie Atwell. The funeral service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Friday, December 28, 2012 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Jim Brookshire. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home prior to the service. Survivors include her son, Ernest Brock (Barbara); her daughter, Phyllis Atwell, both of Kannapolis, NC, and Linda Cauble (Jack) of Salisbury, NC; grandchildren, Bonny King, Penny Donaldson, Jeff Atwell, Michael Atwell, Bobby Smith, Sherry Weaver, and David Smith; her sisters, Hazel Raper and Ruth Rufty; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and her caregiver, Debra Fry.
