Dorothy Leonard Doby

Obituary: Dorothy Louise Leonard Doby, 97, of China Grove, NC died at Liberty Commons Nursing Center in Salisbury on Sep. 5, 2017. Dorothy was born on July 17, 1920 in Rowan County, a daughter of the late Richard Leonard and the late Mattie Miller Leonard. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Thurman Doby who died in 2005, two sisters; Othelia Doby and Frances Gwyn. Mrs. Doby was a lifelong resident of Rowan County. In her working years, she was a winder with Linn Mills for 30 + years and a member of First Baptist Church in China Grove. She is survived by two daughters; Linda Miller and Nancy (Ray "Garren") Watkins; three grandchildren; Jeffrey Watkins, Lorie Miller and Chris Miller and two great-grandchildren; Megan Livengood and Autumn Miller. The Service for Mrs. Doby will take place at 2:00 p.m., Friday, Sep. 8th at China Grove First Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Steve Wilson. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove. The family will receive friends from 1:00-1:45 before the service at the church.
