Dorothy Mae (Sells) Eckard

Dorothy Mae Sells Eckard, 90, of Kannapolis, went into her heavenly home on Sunday, December 20, 2020.

Dorothy was born on January 27, 1930 in Rowan County to the late Hammitte Sells and Emily Burris. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Hugh Augustus Eckard.

Dorothy spent her career as an Inspector at Cannon Mills in I.E. Plant #4. She was a life-long member of Bethpage United Methodist Church. In her free time, she enjoying working in her yard and playing cards.

Those left to cherish her memory include her granddaughters, Jennifer Cannon (Dana Grubb) and Angie Short (Mike Morgan); son, Gerald (Fran) Oliphant; great-grandsons, Seth (Annie) Oliphant and Chase Cannon; stepdaughter, Cathy Eckard Weaver; step-granddaughter, Heather Morales; step-great grandchild, Lorenzo R. Morales; and half-brother, Huston Sells.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at Whitley’s Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mark Vickers officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service at Bethpage United Methodist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethpage UMC, 109 Fellowship Avenue, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
