Obituary: "Dot" Fink passed away July 25, 2012 following several years of declining health. A memorial service is scheduled for 3pm Sunday, July 29th at Midway United Methodist Church in Kannapolis . The Rev "Billy" Rintz and Rev. Burt Williams will officiate. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the fellowship hall. She was born on May 1, 1928, to the late Jacob and Maude Alwran. She graduated from Winecoff High School in 1945 and attended Pheiffer College. She wed her childhood sweetheart James W. Fink on February 6, 1949. The couple was married for 63 years. An active member of Midway United Methodist Church, she served as a children's Sunday School teacher, a volunteer in the Mother's Morning Out Program, a member of the "Midway's Finest" Hot Dog Gang and an active member of the Hettie Womble Circle. She was also active in her community having served as a Girl Scout troop leader, and volunteered for Meals on Wheels and Cabarrus Memorial Hospital/NorthEast Medical Center. In addition to her husband James, Dot is survived by her two children, Dale Fink and wife Cynthia of Kannapolis; Ann Stegall and husband John of Myrtle Beach; and five grandchildren, Jessica Fink, Erin Fink, Jake Fink, Katelyn Stegall, and Sydny Stegall; In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a half-brother, Ford Summitt of Black Mountain. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Midway United Methodist Church (We Care Fund), 108 Bethpage Road, Kannapolis, NC 28081. The family wishes to thank Dot's many friends who continued to brighten her days and the staffs of Morningside of Concord and Hospice for the care and compassion that Dot received while there.
