Dorothy Jean Hethcock Goodson

Obituary: Kannapolis, NC- Dorothy Jean Hethcock Goodson, age 85, died Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at Brian Center, Concord, NC after a period of declining health. She was born December 11, 1927 in Stanly County, NC, the daughter of the late Fulton Leroy Hethcock and Nell Furr Hethcock. She was employed with the former Cannon Mills Company, Plant #1 Cotton Dept. Office for 43 years until her retirement. She was a fifty year member of Centerview Baptist Church, Kannapolis, NC where she worked in the nursery. Dorothy loved to cook, visit yard sales, and spend time with her family. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by a son, Douglas Goodson; and two sisters, Audrey Hethcock and Jane Davis. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, February 1, 2013 at Centerview Baptist Church, Kannapolis, NC officiated by Rev. Willie Rash. Inurnment will be at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis, NC. Survivors include her son, Donald F. Goodson, Jr. & wife, Nancy of China Grove, NC; grandchildren, Scott Goodson, Chandra Goodson, Kassie Watts, Lauren Goodson, and Jane Goodson; six great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Concord and Greater Cabarrus County, 2010 Wilshire Court SW, Concord, NC 28025.
