Dorothy "Dot" Hill

Dorothy “Dot” Jean Hill, 87, of Kannapolis, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 6, 2025 at University Place and Rehab in Charlotte.

She was born May 1, 1937 in Cabarrus Co. to the late John P. Gunter and Flossie Reynolds Gunter.

Dot was a lifelong resident of Kannapolis, she graduated from A.L. Brown in 1956. She was a lifelong member of Shadybrook Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir, helped in the nursery, and with camps and activities. Dot also enjoyed long weekends at the beach house. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and caregiver. She will be dearly missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years John Paul Hill, a sister Betty Turpin and a son-in-law Lew Sherrill.

Those left to cherish her memory are sons Mark Hill, Randy Hill (Sylvia) both of Kannapolis, daughter Paula Sherrill of Concord, two grandchildren Lauren Hill and Joshua Sherrill (Hunter), and a cousin Ken Griffith (Eleanor).

Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at Shadybrook Baptist Church with Rev. Charlie Littlejohn officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.

Visitation will be prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at Shadybrook Baptist Church.
