Dorothy (Dot) Huie

Obituary: Dorothy Erwin Huie, age 83, passed away Thursday, May 9, 2013 at Transitional Health Services, Kannapolis, NC. She was born February 11, 1930 in Cabarrus County, North Carolina, the son of the late William Parks Erwin and Myrtle Reavis Erwin. She was a long-time resident of Kannapolis. Dot was employed with the former Cannon Mills Company, Plant One, Finishing Dept. and Wash Cloth Dept. for thirty-eight years until her retirement. She was a member of the Baptist faith most of her life. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Roy C. Huie on November 10, 1997; one brother, Gene Erwin; and one sister, Shirley Rollins. The funeral service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, May 11, 2013 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel, Kannapolis, NC. A graveside service will be held at the National Cemetery, Salisbury, NC on Monday, May 13, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. Monday. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service. Survivors include four children, Becky Logan & husband, Chip of Kannapolis, NC; Kathy Koch & husband, Steve of Advance, NC; and Richard (Chuck) Huie & wife, Cindy of Kannapolis, NC; and Rhonda Huie & Gary Wise of Michigan; nine grandchildren, Jason Logan, Brayer Logan, Chad Allen, Jessica Koch, Stephanie Koch, Haley Huie, Ryan Huie, Emma Wise, and Flannery Wise; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bill Erwin and Ronald Erwin, both of Kannapolis, NC; and many nieces and nephews.
