Ethel Dorothy Reid Kinsey, 100 years of age, of Lexington NC, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 26, 2021.
Dorothy was born on July 11, 1920 in Mecklenburg County, to the late Robert Samuel Reid and Ethel Finger Reid. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Barron Dalvin Kinsey; sister, Kathryn R. Wright, and two brothers, William G. Reid and Robert R. Reid.
Dorothy attended Women’s College in Greensboro, where she was in the secretarial program. In her early years, she worked for General Motors before starting a family. She was a caring and devoted wife and mother who cherished spending time with her children. She loved researching family history and ancestry and was eager to learn all she could. She was a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy in Greensboro and was a real granddaughter of UDC. She was also a faithful member of First United Methodist Church in Lexington where she was part of the Women’s Club.
Those left to cherish her memory include two sons, Bob Kinsey and Barry Kinsey, daughter, Barbara Kinsey; and nephew, Billy (Betty) Wright, who will all miss her dearly.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at Sharon Memorial Park in Charlotte with Rev. Doug Rowe officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 310 S Main St., Lexington, NC 27292 or to Meals on Wheels, PO Box 1697, Lexington, NC 27293.
