Dorothy Irene King Mccarter

Obituary: Colorado Springs, Colorado Dorothy Irene King McCarter, 78 formerly of Kannapolis, died Sunday January 30, 2011 at Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Her death was unexpected. She was born August 18, 1932 in Cabarrus County, NC., a daughter of the late Heath Claude and Mary Virginia McGurt King. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter; Mary Katherine McCarter and two brothers; Thomas and Claude King. She was previously employed as a weaver at Cannon Mills. Graveside services will be 2:00 pm Saturday, February 5, 2011 at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove with Rev. Shane Utley officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 PM on Saturday at Whitley's Funeral Home. Dorothy is survived by a son, Roy C. McCarter Jr. of Kannapolis, three daughters; Sylvia Miller of Salisbury, Esther McCarter and Shanna Barnhardt both of China Grove, three brothers; Rufus King of Kannapolis, Jerry King of Rockhill, SC., and Heath King of Florida, one sister; Helen Sherer of Rock Hill, SC, 9 Grandchildren, 6 Great Grandchildren.
