Obituary: Dorothy "Dot" Elizabeth Coley McRae, 90, of Kannapolis went to be with her Lord on Monday, June 17, 2013 at Bob and Carolyn Tucker Hospice House following a short illness. She was born May 23, 1923 in Cabarrus County, NC, a daughter of the late Walter Washington and Mamie Parnel Coley. Dot was a lifelong member of Centerview Baptist Church where in early life she worked in the nursery. She was employed with Cannon Mills, Plt. #1, #6 weave room for 36 years, retiring in 1981. She enjoyed gardening and loved working in her flower garden. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Linda Carol McRae, a sister, Alice Williams and a brother, Walter Coley. Survivors include her husband of 73 years, Hardin "Hop" C. McRae of the home, Son, Kenneth C. McRae and wife Linda, two daughters, Tanya McRae Carter and husband Jerry and Cynthia McRae Adcock and husband Grady all of Kannapolis, one sister, Betty Long of Melbourne, Fla. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Timothy (Scott) Carter and wife Sharon, Trent A. Carter, Angela Mullinax and husband Dean, Heather Bullard and husband Jason, Keith and Mike McRae, four great-grandchildren: Zachary Mullinax, Ansley Carter and Jack Carter and Julie Bullard. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, June 20, 2013 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel conducted by Rev. Willie Rash. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 P.M.-2:00 P.M. prior to the service. At other times they will be at the residence.
