Dorothy Elizabeth Toonsie Helms Rabon

Obituary: Dorothy Elizabeth "Toonsie" Helms Rabon , 85, of Kannapolis died January 11, 2011 at Five Oaks Nursing Center. She was born September 25, 1925 in Cabarrus County, the daughter of the late W.S. and Zella Duckworth Helms. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Rabon. She was a member of New Hope Worship Center, Concord where she had served formerly as the church secretary and treasurer for over 25 years. She loved working jigsaw puzzles and sewing. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Saturday at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. Dale Jenkins, Rev. Harold Helms and Rev. George Helms. The family will receive friends from 12 to 1 prior to the service. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove. She is survived by her brother, Rev. Harold Helms of Bakersfield, Ca., a number of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 3800 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC 28215-3220.
