Obituary: Dorothy Lee "Dot" Sides Sellers, age 85, of Kannapolis passed away on Friday, March 21, 2014 at her home after a period of declining health. Her funeral will be held at 2:30 PM Monday, March 24 at Trinity United Methodist Church with Rev. Kirk Tutterow and Rev. J. V. Allen officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Whitley's Funeral Home on Sunday, March 23 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, at other times they will be at the family home. Dorothy was born July 12, 1928 in Cabarrus Co., a daughter of the late Walter M. and Bessie Ballard Sides and granddaughter of "Daddy" Sides. A lifelong area resident, Dorothy was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. In earlier years, she worked in Cannon Mills Plant #1 Washcloth Dept. In later years, Dorothy worked for Fiber Industries until retiring. She enjoyed flower gardening and going the beach. Dorothy was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She will be dearly missed. In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her sisters, Louise Church and Lillian Summerford and her brother, Harold Sides. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 67 years, Edward Hilton Sellers, Sr. of the family home, her sons; Edward H. Sellers, Jr. (LeesAnn), Jeffrey Ladd Sellers (Deneen), both of Kannapolis, her grandchildren; Shane Hudson Sellers, Kendall Ladd Sellers, Ashlyn LeeAnn Sellers (Austin) and special extended family; J'Daniel Nathan Howell (Amanda), J'Michael Stewart Howell, Matt Linker and Dylan Banks and numerous nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank her caregivers, Nikki and Bridgette, for the incredible care they gave to Dorothy.
