Dorothy “Dot” Hurley, 93, of Salisbury, went to her heavenly home on Monday, November 28, 2022.
Dot was born on July 28, 1929 in Drayton, SC to the late James Parton and Inez Brown van Bomel. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Russell Hurley.
Dot joyfully spent her career as a public school teacher for 32 years. She enjoyed volunteering for the Rowan County Literacy Council for 25 years. She also taught Sunday School at Bethpage United Methodist Church for 40 years.
Those left to cherish her memory include two sons, Darrell (Martha) Hurley and Alan (Kelli) Hurley and two grandchildren, TJ (Chelsea) Hurley and Darren Hurley.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 2, 2022 at Bethpage United Methodist Church. The funeral service will follow and begin at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Gary MacDonald and Duane Melton officiating. Burial will immediately follow in the church cemetery.
