Dorothy "Dottie" Jean (Mclaurin) Swanson

Dorothy “Dottie” Jean McLaurin Swanson, 60, of Kannapolis, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at Atrium Health Cabarrus.

Dottie was born on November 1, 1962 in Panama. She was a cherished daughter of the late Jerry Thomas McLaurin Sr. and Judy Collier Church, and stepfather, Earl Church.

Dottie had a rare talent for bringing laughter and cherishing life's moments, she was a joy to her friends and family. Her warm sense of humor and kind soul made her a delight to be around. The beach and mountains held a special place in Dottie's heart, filling her with pure joy.

Above all, Dottie had a heart of gold, radiating care and kindness to all she encountered.

She will be dearly missed but Dottie's laughter and compassion will forever live on in the hearts of her family and friends.

Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband, Andy Swanson; siblings, Theresa Jackson (Tony), Jerry McLaurin Jr. (Heather), and Earlene Ritchie (Terry); nieces and nephews, Brandy Haithcox (Casey), Brittney Ritchie, Ashley Threlkel (Nathan), Jerry McLaurin III (Serena), and Tasha McLaurin; she was also blessed with numerous great- nieces and nephews.

Please join us in honoring the life of Dottie. The family will be receiving friends at Whitley's Funeral Home in Kannapolis on Friday, July 28, 2023, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The service will begin at 12:00 PM in Whitley's Chapel. Following the service, we will proceed to West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove for the interment.
