Dottie Neal

Dottie Neal, 85, of Kannapolis, passed away April 9, 2025 at Morningside Assisted Living.

She was born February 1,1940 in Spartanburg, SC to the late James Kirby Watson Sr. and Viola Oliver Watson.

Dottie was a member of Skyland Baptist Church and also attended Eastwood Baptist Church, She worked for Cannon Mills and later became a nanny for many years to many children. She enjoyed camping at the beach, the lake or the mountains, always memories made on those trips. Dottie loved writing poetry for special family occasions. She will be dearly missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband Max D. Neal 2018 and her son Jeffery W. Neal 2023.

Those left to cherish her memory, her daughter Kathy Jayne Craven her husband Mark of Kannapolis, two grandchildren, Shannon Craven his wife Melissa, Sam Craven his wife Devyn, two great grandchildren Laylee Craven and Max Craven.

The family would like to thank the staff at Morningside for their kind loving and compassionate care of Dottie.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM Friday April 11, 2025 at Whitley’s Funeral Home Chapel with Mark Craven officiating, burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.

Memorials May be made to Hospice and Palliative care of Cabarrus Co. 5003 Hospice LN, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
