Douglas Arnette

Obituary: Douglas "Marvin" Arnette, 74, passed away Wednesday morning, April 5, 2017 at his home, surrounded by his family. Born November 1, 1942 in Columbus Count, NC, he was the son of the late Joseph Robert Arnette and Hazel Mae Stevens Arnette. As a young man, Marvin honorably served his country with the US Army. For many years, he was self-employed in vinyl siding installation, later working as bartender at West A Lounge. Marvin loved his family, enjoyed NASCAR, beach trips and socializing with friends at the VFW Post 8989 in Kannapolis. Family members left with fond memories include his three children, Doug Arnette and wife Lynn; Karen Arnette (Mitchell Hundley); and Shane Arnette (Lisa Watson); his grandchildren, Joey Arnette, Addison Frye, Zack Arnette, Jerry Arnette, Randy Fish, Jr. and Jessica Fish; and extended family members. The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 9th from 1:00- 2:00 pm at Whitley's Funeral Home. Funeral services to remember and celebrate Marvin's life will begin at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel, conducted by Mary Arnette. Marvin will be laid to rest in Carolina Memorial Park Cemetery in Kannapolis.
