Obituary: Douglas Eugene Dover,84, of Mooresvillle, died Friday, October 19, 2012at W.G. "Bill" Hefner VA Medical Center, Salisbury following a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. He was born September 5, 1928 in Cabarrus County, NC son of the late Delbert Crayton Dover and Annie Pauline Shoe Dover. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mildred Brown and Jackie Howard and two brothers, Bill and Jerry Dover. He was the co-owner of Hi-Co Company, a residential and business construction company. Mr. Dover was a member of Unity United Methodist Church in Kannapolis. He was a veteran serving with the US Marine Corps and was a member of American Legion Post #1981. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Tuesday, October 23, 2012, at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Pastor Tim Whittington and Pastor Mike Edwards. The family will receive friends Monday, October 22, 2012 from 6:00-7:00 P.M.at Whitley's Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the residence. Interment will follow at West Concord Cemetery. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Ettawa Strickland Dover of the home, son, Douglas Eugene Dover, Jr. of Mooresville, daughter, Sherry Dover Kennedy (Jonathan) of Mooresville, grandchildren: Kevan Dover of Beaufort, NC, April Kennedy, Jonathan Kennedy, Jr and Mark Kennedy all of Kannapolis, and a sister, Gladys Dover Porter(Richard) of Hickory. Memorials may be made to Unity United Methodist Church Building Fund, 8505 Unity Church Road, Kannapolis, NC 28081.

Service: 1:00 P.M. Tuesday October 23, 2012 Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel
