Obituary: Douglas Lee Love, 62 of Kannapolis died Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at CMC-Northeast, Concord. Death was unexpected. Doug was born September 21, 1948 in Stanly County, NC son of the late Hal Walton and Mildred Anne Huneycutt Love. He attended UNC-Chapel Hill and was a member of Alpha Kappa Si. Doug retired in 2005 following a 35 year banking career with First Union Bank which later became Wachovia Bank. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Kannapolis. Funeral services will be 3:00 P.M. Monday, December 27,2010 at Whitley's Funeral Home Main Chapel conducted by Rev. Cathy George. Interment will follow in Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Whitley's Funeral Home Sunday 6:00-8:00 P.M. At other times they will be at the residence. Doug is survived by his wife of 20 years: Susan Shue Love of the Home, one Step-Son: Chis (Erin) Safrit of Mint Hill, a granddaughter: Anna Safrit, two brothers: Jim (Lori) Love of Kannapolis and Bobby (Linda) Love of Albemarle. He is also survived by two nieces and two nephews. The family request that in Lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to the American Heart Association, 222 S. Church Street, Suite 303, Charlotte, NC 28202 or to the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America, 386 Park Ave., South, 17th Floor, New York, New York, 10016 Whitley's Funeral Home is serving the family of Mr. Love.
