Douglas Moore Whitley

Douglas Moore Whitley, 48, of China Grove, NC closed his eyes on Earth and opened them in Heaven on January 5th, 2022.

Douglas was born on February 12th, 1973, in Winston Salem NC, to Melvin Silas Whitley and Lois (Gene) Bradford . He worked at Daimler Trucks North America for 29 years and held various different positions there. He was an active member of Grace City Church in China Grove.

Doug was a devoted husband, loving father, brother and the greatest friend you could have. He was his family’s protector, provider and refuge. He loved love, and loved fiercely.

Those left to cherish his memory are: his wife, Jo Marie (Bonilla) Whitley; his mom, Lois Whitley Bradford; five children, Doug, Bryan, and Jacob Whitley of Statesville and Patric and Jayla Bonilla of Kannapolis; two brothers, Melvin (Shelly) Whitley of Statesville and Jerry (Kathy) Haithcock of Pauline SC; sister-in-law, Danielle Bonilla; his two brothers-in-law, Mark and David Bonilla, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Melvin Silas Whitley, and a brother, Thomas Anthony Haithcock

Funeral services to remember, to give thanks for and to celebrate Douglas' life will be conducted at Whitley Funeral Home in Kannapolis on Sunday January 9th, 2022, with Pastor Mark Murphy officiating. Visitation begins at 3 pm, and funeral processions at 5 pm.

Doug’s kind heart and ability to make everyone smile will be forever missed. He has left a void in all of our hearts, and was taken from us far too soon.
