Dwight Jessie Bailey

Dwight Jessie Bailey, 67, of Kannapolis, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, September 22, 2023 surrounded by his loving family.

Dwight was born on November 18, 1955 to the late Jessie Lee Bailey and Macie Belle Shinn Bailey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife and soulmate, Jo Dean Bailey, and brother, Claude Bailey.

Dwight worked as a maintenance technician for the NC Department of Public Safety. He was a talented master carpenter and brick mason. He also enjoyed going hunting, fishing, collecting Indian artifacts and watching Westerns.

Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Ronnie Abernathy Jr.; grandchildren, Brittany (Tyler) Hill and Hannah (Dylan) Moffitt; a great-granddaughter, Addison Hill, and a brother, Joseph Bailey.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at Whitley’s Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow and begin at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Whitley’s Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Earnhardt officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove.
