Obituary: Mr. Dwight Harwell age 86, passed away January 15 following extended illness. Dwight made his home in the Odell community where he and his wife built their house together. Dwight was a long standing member of the community and over the years was a member of the Lions Club, volunteer firefighter and a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church. He also served in the US Army and stationed in Germany during the Korean War. For 22 years he worked as the masonry teacher at Northwest Cabarrus High School. After retirement he enjoyed watching sports, visiting with his grandchildren and gardening at his home. He is fondly remembered for his gentle attitude and contagious smile. Dwight is preceded in death by his wife Jolene Harwell and daughter Sharon Carter. Dwight is survived by his son-in-law Donald Carter and three granddaughters, Tammy Grisdale, Shannon Shanus (husband Kevin) and Donna Carter. He is also survived by his three great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM, Sunday, January 19, 2014 at Shiloh United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Danny Wilson officiating.
