Obituary: Kannapolis, NC Dwight H. Smith, age 66 of Kannapolis died Sunday Nov. 1st, 2009 at Rowan Regional Medical Center in Salisbury after a period of declining health. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, Nov. 3rd at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tommy Conder officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis. The family will receive friends from Noon until 2:00 PM on Tuesday prior to the service at the Funeral Home at other times they will be at the family home. Dwight was born July 2, 1943 in Madison Co. GA to the late Sherman H. and Wreatha Dove Smith. He was a long time area resident and a member of North Kannapolis United Methodist Church. Dwight was employed with ADM for 25 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Kathy Hooper. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Peggy Barnes Smith of the family home and his daughter, Crystal D. Smith of Mt. Holly. He is also survived by his sisters, Margaret Roach and Ann Kelly, both of Toccoa GA and also numerous other loving relatives.
