"Dwight was incredibly generous, an avid sportman, passionate, and larger than life figure to those who came into contact with him. He was an Indiana farmboy who loved his sports, especially baseball and basketball. Dwight was a volunteer, coach and supporter to many teams ranging from Myers Park Trinity Little League to countless other youth sports organizations. Near and dear to his heart was Northwest Cabarrus High School Athletics, in particular the baseball team. He served as scorekeeper and as the "Voice of Trojan Baseball" since 1987. For those that knew him he was without peer in his command and use of colorful language. He had a love for animals especially his dog, Jack (squirrels not withstanding). His children would like to express their deepest gratitude to his wife, Rocio, for bringing joy, love, and a renewal of spirit to our dad during the last years of his life. Additionally, the family would like to recognize the awesome care provided by Dr. Stuart Garner, the nurses, the respiratory therapists, and all other support staff of Presbyterian Hospital Unit 4D."
