Obituary: Earl Thomas Carpenter, 86, of Concord died Sunday, January 29, 2017 at Brookdale Assisted Living Center-Concord after a period of declining health. A graveside service will be held at the old historic National Cemetery in Salisbury at 10:00 AM on Monday, February 6 with Military rites conducted by the NC National Guard and Rowan Co. Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at Whitley's Funeral Home from 8:00 to 9:00 AM on Monday before going to the graveside service. Earl was born February 11, 1930 in Owingsville, KY, a son of the late Ray and Dora Willoughby Carpenter. He was a veteran of the US Army. Earl was of the Baptist faith. He worked for PepsiCo as a yardman and driver. In addition to his parents, Earl was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Louise Carpenter and 3 brothers and 2 sisters. He is survived by 3 sons; Ronald Carpenter of Amsterdam NY, Clinton Carpenter (Louise Roseberry) of Salisbury and Darrell Carpenter of Baltimore MD, his step-son, Ron Johnson (Maryann ) of Scotia NY and his step-daughter, Linda Przybylowicz of Hagaman, NY, his brother, Billy Carpenter of Owingsville KY as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
