Obituary: China Grove- Earl "Bud" Ewing, Sr., 91, passed away Saturday evening, July 14, 2018, at his home, following a period of declining health. Born August 9, 1926 in Cabarrus County, he was a son of the late Ben and Georgia Lee Russell Ewing. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Mitch Ewing; and a brother, J.R. Ewing. Bud had honorably served his country with the US Army during WWII and had retired from Cannon Mills after more than 35 years of service. Mr. Ewing was a faithful member of Second Presbyterian Church in Kannapolis, where he had served as scout master, deacon and was an elder of the church. A loving husband, father and grandfather, Mr. Ewing will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Mr. Ewing leaves cherished memories to his wife of 68 years, Jean Goforth Ewing; his daughter, Judy Hartis (Mike) of China Grove; his son, Dan Ewing (Carol) of Morrisville, NC; sister, Betty Hurlocker of Rockwell; his grandchildren, Emily Kindley (Mark), Laura Beth Barnhart (Kelly), Julia Chrismon (Glenn), Daniel Ewing, Shawn Ewing (LeeAnna) and Nathan Ewing; his great- grandchildren, Macey and Callie Chrismon, Jacob Barnhart, and Maddie and Seth Kindley. The family will receive friends at Whitley's Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 pm Tuesday, July 17, 2018. Funeral services to remember and celebrate the life of Mr. Ewing will begin at 2:00 pm Wednesday, July 18th, at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by Rev. Don Mason.
