Earl Eugene Stevens of Concord, NC, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 21, 2025. Earl was born April 22, 1940, in Oldtown, KY. He passed away about six hours short of his 85th birthday.

He was preceded in death by his beloved grandparents that reared him, Rev. Eugene & Lillian Meadows and his mother, Mary Stevens. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Jean, his son, Jeff Stevens (Gina), granddaughters Jena Wood (Ted) and Jillian Powell (Don) and two great grandchildren, Gabrielle and Isaiah Wood. One brother, Davy (Sue) of Jackson, OH, two sisters, Geneva Leadingham of Flatwoods, KY and Deanie Clarke, of Jackson, OH.

He graduated from Wurtland High School, Wurtland, KY, in 1959. The class voted him as their “Most Courteous Male” student. He also attended Shawnee State University in Portsmouth, OH, and Ohio University, Athens, OH, as well as numerous correspondence classes.

Earl was a member of Central Baptist Church where he served as a deacon as well as teaching Sunday School. He loved his church and his family. He was an avid reader and a civil war buff.

He served in the US Air Force for five years and later worked in electrical construction. He retired as President of Port City Electric in Mooresville, NC. Earl was a lifelong fan of the Kentucky Wildcats basketball program and the Ohio State Buckeyes football program. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather to his family.

He will have a private graveside burial in the National Veterans Cemetery in Salisbury, NC with military honors. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Dean Hunter. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Central Baptist Church, Kannapolis, NC.
